Fort Lauderdale Hotels
When traveling anywhere, one of the most difficult decisions is which hotel to stay at. The flight is usually pretty easy to choose - the quickest, or the cheapest. But when it comes to hotels, when you go too cheap, you lose out on quality and could compromise your entire experience. Then again, if you spend a lot of money on a big hotel, you could leave very little left for the vacation experience itself.
So before you choose which of the many Ft. Lauderdale Hotels to stay in, consider some of the following:
How close to the beach do you want to be?
Naturally, the closer to the beach you are, the more expensive the hotel is going to be. If your hotel is beach front, where you literally step out of your lobby onto the sandy shore, then you're definitely going to pay for it. Remember, you can find some less expensive options that are only a block or two from the beach.
How inclusive do you need your hotel to be?
Are you looking for everything to be in your hotel? That is, restaurants, coffee shops, shopping, massages, mini bars, etc.? If so, then you're also going to have to pay. You could save a lot of money by going for a 3 or 4 star hotel and providing your own amenities. How important is it that restaurants are in your hotel? Would you be willing to explore the area and find some eateries? If so, then you can nix the 5 star and save $500.
Do you need to stay in a hotel, or would a motel be okay?
What you really want to consider is how long you will be in your actual room. If you plan on spending all of your time in the hotel, then perhaps you should make sure it's a very top-quality place with many amenities. However, if you're going to be spending time on the beach, taking in the sites, doing family activities, etc. then you may be completely content with an upscale motel.
Swap the Room Service for an Eat in Kitchen
One of the best parts of Ft. Lauderdale Hotels is the room service. However the bill can get rather pricey. Something that you could think about is opting for an extended stay motel or hotel that has an eat in kitchen. This way, if you do want to go out and have a meal in a restaurant, you can. But if not, you can easily cook a little something for yourself. Plus, consider how much you spend on breakfast each day -- $20? For a bagel? You could buy a bag of bagels for less than half of that, and have breakfast for a week! Just something to consider!
How Many People Are In Your Party?
This also comes down to how close you are with those you are traveling with. Sometimes it's more economical to get a room with two beds. Or, even a suite with two rooms can be cheaper than two separate rooms.
Are you flexible on dates?
Independence Day and other National Holidays are the most popular times to travel. Because of this, tourism is much more expensive. If you're more flexible on your vacation dates you could save a lot of money on hotel stays. Perhaps consider having a Staycation in your hometown for the holiday and then hitting one of the Ft.
Lauderdale Hotels at more of a down time.
Also when you're booking, try beginning your trip on a Tuesday, rather than a Friday. That's a very busy day for people to check in.
Look For Deals
A few months before you start booking hotels, take a look at websites like Groupon or Living Social. You could even keep an eye on trip advisor that will alert you when rooms go to a certain price point. Sites like this will get rid of cancelled rooms for much cheaper. The only downfall to this is that you typically have to wait until the last minute.
Regardless of which of the fabulous hotels you decide to stay at, just be sure you're getting the most for your money. Consider what points are staples, what things you need to have, and what you can do without. If a quick 5 minute walk to the beach is okay for you, then you can save a pretty penny. If you want to get the most from your hotel and get treated like a star with massages and room service and pillow service, then by all means go for it. It's your vacation; make sure you do it up right, and exactly how you want it.
You're already doing a great thing by choosing to go to Ft. Lauderdale for your vacation.
